CalAmp and FAIRWAYiQ Partner to Improve Course Operational Efficiency

CalAmp, a connected intelligence company helping businesses and people track, monitor and recover critical assets with real-time visibility and insight, announced it will provide its CalAmp Telematics Cloud (CTC) and computing devices from tip to improve FAIRWAYiQgolf course operations and golf cart fleet management platform. The partnership enables FAIRWAYiQ to provide course operators with real-time visibility into gameplay and operations – intelligence connected to the edge to optimize course maintenance and players’ pace of play.

“I recognized CalAmp as an IoT leader who could easily provide the connectivity and visibility we needed, as well as improve the functionality of our platform,” said Dave Vanslette, Founder and CEO of FAIRWAYiQ . “CalAmp exceeded our expectations by providing a solution that responded to our specific use cases in less than two months and has become an integral part of our business. “

For FAIRWAYiQ, CalAmp currently provides:

  • GPS tracking devices for monitoring the location of golf carts. The weatherproof, Bluetooth-enabled GPS device installed on individual golf carts transmits real-time location information so operational teams can see where the carts and walking groups are on the course.
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) key fob for player and employee identification. While GPS devices provide location information about each golf cart, assigned BLE key fobs help identify the people who are driving each cart at any given time. Likewise, key fobs associated with golf course staff members keep track of who is using what maintenance equipment. With this information, superintendents can ensure yards are well maintained and spotless by monitoring ongoing maintenance tasks. Identifying inefficiencies from individual staff performance data facilitates employee management and equipment usage history enables better management of lifecycle assets.
  • Geofencing and edge computing for better course management. Operations crews can set geo-fenced boundaries to prevent carts from entering unauthorized areas, such as a wet area where grass could be damaged. A buzzer connected to a CalAmp on-board computer device in the golf cart will detect and alert groups if they enter an unauthorized area or exceed course speed limits – notifications that occur instantly in the cart.
  • Connected intelligence for smarter decision-making. The CTC platform connects and manages all CalAmp devices used in a FAIRWAYiQ implementation. With this connected intelligence, golf course operations teams can make smarter management decisions. Additionally, CTC’s customization capability allows users to write and access applications for edge devices, such as geofencing and buzzer alerts around unauthorized golf course areas.

“It’s exciting to see that FAIRWAYiQ golf course customers will not only have visibility to manage course flow and maintenance of all of their operations, but they will also be able to take immediate action based on the real-time visibility from edge to tee to green, “said Jeff Clark, senior vice president of product management, CalAmp.” We are delighted to showcase our partnership and the transformative impact of connected intelligence on new markets with such a pioneer in the golf industry. ”
