Computer workshop: The Tribune India

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT, Hamirpur, is running a short one week course on “Recent Trends in Networking and Communication”. Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi said that 100 participants from more than 20 Indian and foreign institutes will participate in the event. Experts from the United States, Switzerland, IITs and NITs would make presentations on various research topics in the areas of networking and communication. Professor Awasthi said there is a need to boost research as it forms the backbone for the implementation of various applications based on artificial intelligence, cloud computing and fog computing.

Pollution prevention day observed

National Pollution Prevention Day was celebrated on Thursday at St Bede’s College in Shimla. The event was organized by the Department of Zoology, in collaboration with the NCC Unit. The speaker for the day was Dr. Pawan Rana, Scientist, Himalayan Forest Research Institute. He informed the students about pesticide pollution and preventive measures for the same. The students also performed a “nukkad natak” and recited poetry about pollution.

The ABVP welcomes the decision of the UGC

The ABVP welcomed the UGC’s decision to grant an additional six months to last-year researchers to submit their work, given the constraints caused by the Covid. The student body said it wrote to UGC in February to extend the period by one year. Nidhi Tripathi, national secretary general of the ABVP, said the decision would offer relief to researchers.
