IIIT-Delhi held its annual Research Innovation and Incubation Showcase (RIISE 2022)

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) held its annual event “Showcase for Research, Innovation and Incubation (RIISE)on Friday, April 8, 2022 with eight key themes – artificial intelligence, basic research, cyber-physical systems, design, healthcare, laboratory to market/start-ups, sustainability and technology as a public good.

This annual event provided an excellent platform for attendees to explore the exciting research undertaken at the Institute as well as an opportunity to network, collaborate and learn to create a better future. More than 400 students from across the country had the chance to showcase their research under one roof and seek new opportunities, such as supporting a startup idea or collaborations. These poster presentations illustrate some of the brilliant research and innovations of these young minds, which have the potential to revolutionize the future.

Over 100 delegates from industry, academia and government were in attendance, including 40 renowned speakers in panel discussions and discussions that provided insight into their recent research and discoveries, including work that has not have not yet been published. With the presence of eminent personalities such as Dr. Gautam Shroff (Senior Vice President and Head of Research, TCS), as a speaker on the topic of Artificial Intelligence; Mr. Sachindra Joshi (Lead AI, IBM Research) as keynote speaker; and Prof. Ram Gopal Rao (Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi), Dr. Lipika Dey (Chief Scientist, TCS Research), Dr. Seema Khanna (Deputy Director General, National Center for Informatics) and Dr. Andreia Cathelin (STMicroelectronics) as panelists for the “Women in Engineering” session, RIISE 2022 was a wonderful opportunity for young budding researchers.

“RIISE is an annual occasion where we bring together academic researchers, industry leaders and government think tanks. We had many interesting interactions between faculty and industry leaders today. Students from IIIT Delhi, and even the winning students of the Business Blasters presented their prototypes and start-up business plans. The roundtable was on a very relevant topic and the views shared by the panelists were truly insightful. More than 2500 people enthusiastically participated in an 8 hour exhibition and I am convinced that every minute spent was worth it. Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) was established as a state university by an act of the Delhi government in 2008 authorizing it to conduct research and award academic degrees. IIIT-Delhi hosts the academic departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computational Biology, Human Centered Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences and Humanities. In addition, there are 8 research centers covering the fields of artificial intelligence, design and new media, technology in the police, human-centered design, light fidelity, mobility Sustainable, Healthcare and DataKart Center of Excellence, engaged in high quality research and development activities. IIITD also houses an Incubation Center (IC) and a Technology Innovation Center (TiH).
