Applications are invited for the position of lecturer in the computer science department.

The Department of Computer Science at Royal Holloway seeks to nominate fellows to support high quality teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate level of education.

We conduct outstanding research and provide excellent education at undergraduate and postgraduate level: we ranked 11the in the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) for the quality of our research results, and in teaching, we are in the top 10 in the UK for graduate prospects (Complete University Guide 2021) and staff has won several teaching awards. Our software engineering education has been rated “best practice” by the British Computer Society.

The specific tasks and responsibilities of these positions include: contributing to the teaching, assessment and supervision of student projects; coordinate (or assist in coordination) and provide laboratory instruction in the department; grading of courses and feedback to students; contribute to the development of software applications that support laboratory teaching or department administration; and contribute to ministry outreach activities, including open days, candidate visit days, tasting days and participation in festivals.

Successful applicants will hold a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in computer science or the equivalent. The positions have a term of two years and are available immediately. Part-time (50%) appointments may be considered. Successful applicants who are not currently enrolled in studies would be appointed through fixed-term contracts, while successful applicants who are currently doctoral students would work under a casual employment contract.
