NTT Research and NTT Social Informatics Laboratories to Present Security Research Results at Eurocrypt 2021

SUNNYVALE, Calif .– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – NTT Research, Inc., a division of NTT (TYO: 9432), today announced that members of its Cryptography and Information Security (CIS) Lab and Social Computing Labs in NTT co-authored 10 papers which are presented at Eurocrypt 2021, one of three flagship conferences organized by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). This year’s event will take place virtually and in person from October 18-21, and will feature 13 sessions, 78 papers and 2 guest lectures. This year’s physical event will take place at the Westin Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia. The acts of Eurocrypt 2021, the 40e The annual international conference on the theory and applications of cryptographic techniques will be published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

A program committee of over 60 academics evaluated the submissions to Eurocrypt 2021 and grouped the accepted papers into 13 session themes. The program chairs published a report on the Eurocrypt 2021 review process. Accepted papers associated with NTT cryptographers were divided into eight sessions: public key cryptography and isogenies; fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) and indistinguishability obfuscation (IO); multi-party computation (MPC); quantum constructions and proofs; post-quantum cryptography; zero knowledge, property preserving hash, and unconscious random access machine (ORAM); MPC and scrambled circuits; and defects, tampering and non-malleability. As at this year’s Crypto 2021 conference, a relatively large number of articles at Eurocrypt 2021 address MPC, allowing parties to calculate exits without sharing individual entries.

Led by NTT Fellow Tatsuaki Okamoto, the NTT Research CIS Lab has assembled a team of world-class cryptographers over the two years since its founding. Guest speakers at Eurocrypt 2021 are Craig Gentry and Sarah Meiklejohn. Dr Gentry is currently a researcher at the Algorand Foundation, a blockchain startup founded by Silvio Micali. Gentry was named a 2021 IACR Fellow for “groundbreaking research into fully homomorphic encryption and other fundamental contributions to cryptography.” Dr Meiklejohn is Professor of Cryptography and Security in the Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Engineering at University College London. At Eurocrypt 2021, she will be giving a talk titled “Evolving Models for Zero-Knowledge Evidence”.

Six events affiliated with Eurocrypt 2021 will take place at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, from October 16 to 17. They include five workshops and a tutorial, covering the topics of Artificial Intelligence and Cryptography (AICrypt), Verifpal Software, Security and Implementation of Lightweight Cryptography (SILC), Quantum Techniques for provable security, open issues in Ethereum research, and secure design strategies for CPUs.
