Applications are invited for the position of Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Computing at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Successful candidates will work under the guidance of Dr. Matteo Sammartino on the EPSRC-funded “Verification of Hardware Concurrency via Model Learning” (CLeVer) project (EP/S028641/1).

For an informal discussion about the position, please contact Dr Matteo Sammartino on [email protected]

Project description. The CLeVer project aims to develop new verification methods for hardware systems, with a particular focus on important components such as processors, DRAMs, etc.

As the complexity of these systems increases, there is an urgent need to automate the assessment of their accuracy. Formal verification provides very effective techniques for assessing the accuracy of systems. However, formal models are usually built by humans and as such can be error-prone and inaccurate. The CLeVer project will explore the use of learning model to automatically build and verify hardware behavior models. This research will be informed by our collaboration with ARM, the world leader in processor design.

This is a joint research involving Royal Holloway University of London, University College of London (Professor Alexandra Silva), and ARMS.

The ideal candidate. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in one of the following areas: model-based testing and verification, model learning, automated analysis of hardware systems. Experience in several areas will be appreciated. Ideally, applicants should also have strong programming skills.

In return, we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Pension plan with generous employer contribution
  • Various programs, including Cycle to Work, subscription loans and help with the cost of eye tests.
  • Free parking
